The Distribution Assistant Manager plans and organizes the picking of orders/and shipping of goods from the Distribution Center to the destinations where they will be sold and used. They maintain stock levels for extensive inventories and ensure their quality and quantity. They assist to manage the warehouse to ensure consumer demands are met while in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. Implements systems and plans by analyzing data to improve work execution, distribution of tasks, and managing team schedules. They are also responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and health are paramount for every worker. This position will confer with various departments, supervisors and with warehouse staff to execute day to day operations, meet customer requirements and that direction given is clear, concise, and executed. The manager will focus on delegation of orders to be deployed and meet the required timelines.
- Respond to and execute all work orders required by customer.
- Organize and plan proper staging, loading, and unloading of items.
- Delegation of duties related to the shipping and receiving of materials.
- Resolve or escalate customer service issues, deal with customer concerns, and prepare responses to customer issues and problems.
- Route materials, supplies and equipment to inspection or stock areas.
- Review data, identify and implement necessary actions as required.
- Coordinate resources to align with overall company strategies.
- Stock and maintain inventory items in designated warehouse storage areas
- Evaluate employee performance and provide disciplinary action as required.
Position Requirements
- 5 – 10 + years hands-on management experience in a comparable facility (Operations: freight, returns, receiving, parcels, transfers, customer pick-up, safety, inventory control, and transportation).
- Management and supervisory experience with responsibility for 50 + associates, preferably in a multi-shift (3), distribution center environment.
- Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
- Strategic planning and strategic tactical skills, effective operations experience, and forecasting; performance metrics experience an asset.
- Help manage and oversee all inbound / outbound LTL carriers and performance metrics.
- Coordinate all inbound/outbound LTL carriers & help support inventory management.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of the latest distribution center technologies would be an asset.
- Manage warehouse operations & solicit / generate ideas on process improvements. Schedule, motivate & lead a team of warehouse personnel in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure continuous training and coaching of inbound/outbound staff to maintain safe working environment and OHS compliance.
- Hire, train, develop, retain, and evaluate staff.
- Oversee & exceed expectations for productivity, daily workflow, and accuracy.
- Experience with various types of equipment including stand up reach trucks, stock pickers, and forklifts required.
- Work closely with the Inventory Control team to coordinate product movement, warehouse slotting changes and product rotation process.
- Comfortable making decisions and multitasking as required.

- Walking, standing and bending continuously.
- Working in temperatures of -20 (PPE provided)
